UK Woman Taking Facebook To Court Over Anonymous Users Who attacked Her

A UK woman is taking Facebook to court in an attempt to uncover the identities of anonymous users who attacked her on the social network, the Telegraph reports.

The real case for Nicola Brookes, a 45-year-old Brighton resident is not against Facebook itself. If Facebook is made to comply, in what could be a first case of its kind in the UK, she intends to use that information to prosecute users who created a fake profile in her name.

Brookes found herself the subject of abuse, was accused of being a pedophile, and even had death threats directed at her on Facebook after leaving a supportive comment on an X Factor singer’s page. Read More...

Facebook Billionaire Banned From US?

Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin renounced his U.S. citizenship ahead of the company's highly anticipated initial public offering, which could enrich him by several billion dollars. He currently lives in Singapore, a country that doesn't tax capital gains.

Saverin might not be allowed to physically reenter the United States. Talking Points Memo (TPM) posted earlier today, citing Sec. 212. [8 U.S.C. 1182], which contains the following text, explaining what sort of non-citizens might not be eligible to enter the country:

Still, the two companies have been bound by the mutual dependence since Google’s services are bundled into iOS. And iMore reports that Google may make four times the ad revenue off of their use in iOS than they do from their own Android platform. Read More...

Facebook Highlights: The Beginning of Paid Social Networking?

Facebook is testing a new pay-to-promote system for status updates: the idea is that users can pay a small fee to Facebook to have a particular status update appear on their social networks in a more-visible manner. Right now, the test service appears to be only running in New Zealand (although a few others claim to have seen it), and the company has not announced any plans to take the feature to other markets, or even if it’s going to stick with the idea. Zuckerberg's His Hoodie And Wall Street

Facebook has raked in billions and will make a splash when its stock hits the open market next week. So, what are folks on Wall Street concerned about? Mark Zuckerberg's hoodie, apparently. Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Securities, told Bloomberg that the Facebook CEO's decision to show up for a meeting with potential investors dressed down in his trademark casual outerwear suggests that he's too immature to run a massive corporation.

"He's actually showing investors he doesn't care that much; he's going to be him," Pachter said in an interview on Bloomberg TV. "I think that's a mark of immaturity. Read More...

The big guns on Instagram have seen their number of followers spike tremendously since the startup exited its iPhone-only stage and released its much-anticipated Android app on April 3.
